Top Tips to Nail That [Insert Dream Here]

You've done it, you've put in the work, you've prepped like crazy and now is your time to go up for that promotion, ask for that raise, make that leap, secure that funding, or just (insert dream here).

Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

1. You like heels? Wear heels.

We aren't saying pull out your diamond-encrusted Louboutins (save those for Saturday), but if you want to rock a heel, rock it with confidence. If you don't like heels, pick a shoe that is professional - go for a pointed-toe flat, but always make sure your flats cover your toe "cleavage." (Pro tip: ensure your pant or dress length matches what shoe you select)

2. Make sure you are buttoned up.

Literally and otherwise. A clean, steamed (or pressed) suits, skirts, pants and blouses make an impression immediately. The great thing about this is that it doesn't have to be flashy, it's just clean and tailored. Your talents should shine, not your clothes.

3. Try your outfit seated and standing.

Girl, the amount of times we've loved a skirt standing in the mirror and hated it when we sat down are too many to count (you think we'd learn). Try your ensemble out while you are standing, walking and sitting. You should look flawless no matter what move you make.

4. Posture, posture, posture.

Keeping your shoulders back is a physical reminder as well as a mental one. Own the space you're in. Slouching to meet someone on the same level is a disservice to your height, your career and your confidence. A quick change in posture makes a huge difference.

5. Asking for something?

ASK FOR IT. The advice is easier than the action, but ask for what you want. Verbalize your goals and you'll be surprised what you get back. Asking isn't confrontational, it's essential.

Bottom line, you deserve this. Take up the space you were given and go for it. We need you.
